• A return or onward ticket out of Oman.

A passport expiring five months after your holiday is not enough, and airlines check this at check-in, so renew early if you are close. Check the dates for every family member, as children's passports are valid for five years.

If your itinerary runs past 14 days, decide on the visa when you book the flights rather than on arrival.

Oman 30 Day Visa Cost for British Passports

Choosing an Oman visa on arrival leaves the decision until you land after a long journey. Applying online means the decision is made before you fly, and you arrive with the approval already on your phone.

The Oman visa requirements for UK citizens applying for the 30-day visa are simple:

• A scan of your passport's photo page, with at least six months of validity after arrival.

• A return or onward flight reservation.
• Your hotel booking, or, when friends or relatives are hosting you, a copy of their Omani residence card.

Apply with the passport you travel on; a visa on an old passport does not transfer to a new one.

An Oman visa extension is not automatic, and eligibility depends on how you entered and your current immigration status. A visa-free stay does not automatically qualify for a paid extension. The service is mainly for British travellers who entered on a 30-day visa and need more time, though some visa-free visitors may also have options. Oman Visa for British Citizens with Other Passports or Documents

Rules on the Oman visa for British citizens are written around the full British citizen passport, and the 14-day exemption relies on that document. If you travel as a British National (Overseas), a British Overseas Territories citizen or another type of British national, check how the rules apply to your passport before booking.

Dual British and Omani nationals need extra care. Oman does not recognise dual nationality, and the UK government warns that Omani authorities may confiscate one of your passports.

UK Refugee Travel Documents and Other Non-Standard Passports

A refugee travel document or certificate of travel issued by the UK is not a British citizen passport, so the visa-free rule for British citizens does not automatically apply. The Oman visa for UK residents without a British passport depends on nationality rather than where you live. Some nationalities, including Indian and Egyptian citizens, qualify for a 14-day visa-free stay if they hold a valid UK visa. Others need an e-visa or a sponsored visa whatever their UK status. For the nationalities that do benefit, a valid Schengen, US, Canadian, Australian or Japanese visa works in the same way, and the usual conditions on accommodation, insurance and onward travel still apply.

Oman Visa for UK Visa Holders

If you are relying on UK status, carry proof of your UK visa or residence, and check that it remains valid for your whole trip. Different nationalities face very different rules. A Kenyan passport holder living in London, for example, still needs a sponsored Oman visa for Kenyan citizens, regardless of UK residence.

Oman Entry Requirements for UAE Residents with British Passports

British expats living in Dubai or Abu Dhabi follow Oman's entry requirements for their British passport, not their UAE residence. That means the 14-day visa-free stay applies to weekend trips to Musandam or the Hajar Mountains, provided you meet the same conditions on accommodation, insurance and onward travel. Crossing by road still counts as a new entry each time. If you drive, make sure your car insurance covers Oman, and for a hire car, confirm that the rental company allows cross-border travel. Each crossing is assessed as a new entry, and a stay longer than 14 days needs a visa like any other visitor.

An Oman transit visa is rarely relevant for British citizens. Short airside connections at Muscat do not require entry at all, and a long layover spent in the city is normally covered by the 14-day visa-free rule. The UK sits on Oman's visa-free countries list alongside European Union states, the United States, Canada and Australia, among others. Families rarely all hold the same passport, though. Each traveller follows the rules for their own nationality, so a British parent may enter visa-free while a partner or child on another passport needs a visa.
