Oman Visa for Ugandan Passport Holders
Is Oman Open for Ugandans?
Yes. Oman is open for Ugandans travelling for holidays, family visits or business, but a Ugandan passport does not qualify for visa-free entry, so your visa must be approved before you board. The Oman visa for Ugandans that we currently process for leisure travel is the 30-day single-entry tourist visa, priced at $162. You can apply for your Oman visa online in a few minutes, and once your documents are complete, our usual handling time is one to two days.
Oman eVisa is an independent application service. Every visa is issued by the Royal Oman Police, and the decision to approve or refuse an application always rests with them.
Is Oman Visa Free for Ugandans?
No. Oman is not visa free for Ugandans, and none of its three entry shortcuts covers a Ugandan passport:
- Visa-free stays of up to 14 days are limited to a published list of nationalities, mostly from Europe, the Americas and parts of Asia.
- Visa-free entry for holders of a US, UK, Schengen, Canadian, Australian or Japanese visa applies to a second, shorter list. Holding one of those visas does not change the rule for Ugandan passports.
- The self-filed tourist e-visa is open only to a defined group of eligible nationalities, and Uganda is not part of it.
Both exemption lists are published by the Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Can I Get an Oman Visa on Arrival?
Not when you fly in from Uganda. There is no Oman visa on arrival for Ugandan passport holders travelling from home, and airlines normally check for an approved visa at check-in. Ugandans living in a Gulf country may qualify for a separate residents' route.
How the Oman Sponsored Tourist Visa Works
Because the self-filed route is closed to Ugandan passports, a holiday visa is issued as an Oman sponsored tourist visa. An Oman-based sponsor, such as a licensed hotel, a registered tourism company or a relative living in Oman, stands behind the application, and the approved visa is still delivered electronically, so there is no need to visit an embassy. When you apply with us, our visa team files on the correct route and flags anything extra before submission.
Oman Visa for Ugandans: Choosing the Right Route
Most Ugandan travellers need the standard tourist visa, but some trips call for a different category, and an application filed under the wrong one usually has to start again.
| Your situation | Route that usually applies | Key detail or next step |
|---|---|---|
| Holiday, sightseeing or visiting friends, travelling from Uganda | 30-day single-entry tourist visa | $162, one entry, up to 30 days |
| Living and working in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Bahrain | Visit visa for GCC residents, if your occupation qualifies | Residence permit with three months or more left |
| Visiting a spouse, parent or child who lives in Oman | Family visit visa sponsored by your relative | Ask our support team |
| Meetings, a conference or exploring a deal | Business visa backed by an Omani company | Oman business visa requirements |
| Changing planes at Muscat without leaving the airport | Short airside connections usually need no visa | Oman transit visa rules |
| Taking up a job offer | Employment visa arranged by the employer | How Oman work visas are issued |
Oman Visit Visa for Ugandans with Family in Oman
An Oman visit visa for Ugandans with a spouse, parent or child living in Oman can often be sponsored by that relative. Their residence status and proof of your relationship both matter, so speak to us before choosing between this and a standard tourist visa.
Travelling to Oman for Work
A tourist visa does not permit paid work in Oman. Genuine employers arrange the employment visa before you travel, so treat any suggestion to arrive as a tourist and find work later as a warning sign.

Oman 30 Days Visa Cost for Ugandan Passports
The Oman 30 days visa cost for a Ugandan passport is $162 with Oman eVisa. That single amount covers the government visa fee and our application handling. The figure shown at checkout is the final amount charged. Prices for other nationalities differ, because fees vary by passport.
Is Oman Visa Refundable?
Once an application has been submitted, the fee cannot be refunded, even if the visa is refused. If you cancel before submission, a partial refund may apply, and our refund policy sets out how that works. Check every passport detail before you pay, since an error found after submission can mean a new application.
What an Oman Single Entry Visa Allows
An Oman single entry visa lets you enter once and stay for up to 30 days. It ends when you leave the country, even for a short trip. Driving from Muscat to the Musandam peninsula crosses UAE territory, so a road trip there uses up your entry, while a domestic flight to Khasab keeps you inside Oman.
Flights to Salalah are also domestic, so the Khareef season in Dhofar, roughly late June to September, fits easily into a 30-day stay. A weekend trip to Dubai is different, because once you exit Oman you need a new visa to return, plus whatever the UAE requires of Ugandan passport holders.
Oman Visa Documents Required for Ugandan Citizens
The Oman visa documents required for a standard tourist application from Uganda are few, and clear phone photos or scans are accepted:
- Passport bio page. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from your arrival date. If a renewal is due, renew first: the visa is tied to one passport number.
- A recent colour photograph on a plain white background, with your face fully visible. The Oman visa photo guide covers size and file format.
- A return or onward flight reservation. A reservation is enough for the application, so you can wait for approval before paying for a non-refundable ticket.
- Accommodation details. A hotel booking or, if you are staying with family or friends, a copy of your host's Omani residence card.
Some cases need an extra item, such as a bank statement or a letter from your host, and our team will tell you if yours does.
Oman Yellow Fever Vaccination Requirements
Oman yellow fever vaccination requirements apply to anyone aged nine months or older who arrives from a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission, and Uganda is one of those countries. The rule also covers travellers whose route includes a stop of more than 12 hours in a risk country.
Under WHO rules the certificate is valid for life, so an older yellow card is fine if it is complete and legible. A new certificate only becomes valid ten days after vaccination, so book the vaccine early if you need it, and carry the original in your hand luggage.
Oman Visa Processing Time and Trip Planning
The Oman visa processing time for a Ugandan tourist application is usually one to two days once every document is in. That is our handling estimate rather than a commitment from Omani immigration, which can take longer if it runs extra checks or requests more information. The approved visa is sent to you by email.
Our visa card lists the validity as 30 days, so apply once your dates are settled rather than months ahead; a trip outside that window needs a new application. The safest order is to hold a flight reservation, apply, and pay for non-refundable flights and hotels only after approval.
Oman Visa Status Check
An Oman visa status check is available at any point after you submit. You can track your Oman visa application online, or message our support team for an update.
Booking Uganda to Oman Flights
If your Uganda to Oman flights include a connection, book them on one through ticket where possible. With two separate tickets, you may have to collect your bags and check in again at the connecting airport, which can mean clearing that country's immigration and needing its visa. A single ticket normally keeps you airside.
Oman Entry Requirements at Muscat Airport
Your approved visa is the key document, but Oman entry requirements also include a passport with at least six months of validity and, for travellers arriving from Uganda, the yellow fever certificate. Immigration officers may ask about your return ticket or accommodation, so keep printed copies of those and your visa with your passport.
Oman Visa for Ugandan Citizens Living in the Gulf
Many Ugandans live and work in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. For residents of those countries, the Oman visa for Ugandan citizens can follow a different route.
Who Qualifies for the Oman Visa for GCC Residents
The Oman visa for GCC residents depends on your residence permit and your job rather than your passport. Two conditions matter:
- Your residence permit should have at least three months of validity left.
- Your occupation, as printed on the permit, must be an eligible one. Several jobs are excluded, with domestic workers, private drivers and students among the common examples.
If you meet both, this is normally the route to use, and our guide for Gulf residents visiting Oman has the details. If not, apply for the standard tourist visa and select your country of residence on our form. If you are travelling overland by car or on the bus from Dubai to Muscat, get the visa approved in advance.
Situations to Discuss Before You Apply
These situations need a short conversation first:
- You have lived or worked in Oman before. A residence visa that was never cancelled, or an unresolved matter with a former sponsor, can hold up a new visa. Read how leaving Oman without cancelling a visa can affect a later trip.
- You hold two passports. Uganda allows dual citizenship. If your other passport is visa-exempt, you may not need this visa at all, but enter and leave Oman on the same passport and book your flights in that name.
- Your family travels on different passports. A British or European spouse can enter visa-free for only 14 days, so plan a longer trip around that limit or arrange their visa too. Every traveller, children included, needs their own permission to enter.
If any of these apply, talk to our visa team and we will confirm the right route before you pay anything.
Oman Visa Extension for a Longer Stay
Plans change, and 30 days can feel short. An Oman visa extension may be possible, but it is never automatic. You must apply while your current visa is still valid, and approval depends on the visa you entered on and your sponsor. Our extension service is currently priced at $300 for a further 30 days, and we check your eligibility before you pay. The Oman visa extension guide explains the process.
Never let your visa expire while you wait for an answer. Overstaying is fined for each extra day and can complicate your future visits.
