Oman Immigration has started a new trend by canceling visas if a traveler has not cleared out of the country within the stipulated time.
And in the past, the Omani authorities used to allow travelers to stay back in the country after the date of their visa expiry, but this is no longer the case. Now, the travelers visiting from countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, etc. have to make sure that they exit Oman within their stipulated visa duration, otherwise, the Omani authorities will cancel their visa and the traveler will have to fly back to their country in a single trip.

Normally, if you are leaving Oman for good, you should go to the Immigration Department and cancel your visa, but if you are leaving for some days and someone can replace you, you do not have to go to the visa department.
When you go to the airport, you can ask the authorities to give you a stamped paper with your name and passport number on it, then you can show that paper to the Omani Immigration Department when you come back or if you do not want to go to the airport, you can ask your replacement to show that paper at the airport. The best thing about this procedure is that you do not have to cancel your visa. You can leave Oman without visa cancellation.
