It is the oldest Arab state in the entire Arab world. Since 1744, Oman has been ruled by the Omani Al Said Family. It was one of the most isolated and traditional countries in the Arab World before. Back when it was a kingdom, one could not reach Oman through the frontal routes as it was strategically placed on the top of a plateau surrounded by a landscape that functioned as a natural barrier against invaders. The only way to reach Oman was by going through a pass that served as a funnel. It almost acted as a fortress that was impenetrable with strong defences that could not be breached or tampered with. It was not until the 1970s when Sultan Qaboos became the ruler of Oman. There have been archaeological findings that suggest evidence about humans that have been living in Oman for as long as 106,000 years. This makes Oman one of the oldest human-inhabited countries on the planet.
On the 23rd of July 1970, Sultan Qaboos Bin Said became the official ruler of Oman. Ever since, the kingdom has witnessed amazing innovations and progress in educational, economic, financial, and political spheres. The country is rapidly developing, with people growing fonder of the Sultanate under Sultan Qaboos. This resulted in the Al Said family becoming the longest-ruling royal family in entire Arabia, with his reign being continuous for the past three centuries. Oman was ranked as third amongst the list of 'longest ruling monarchs', Qaboos Bin al Said is the king bearing the title of Sultan. The Sultan is the head of the government as well as the monarch holding all the authoritative power over all aspects of his kingdom.
According to the Global Terrorism Index, Oman is one of the safest and secure countries in the Arab World. Oman comes last on the list with a score of 0 with absolutely no or least terrorism in the country.
The marketplaces sprawl over for kilometres at a stretch. The endangered Arabian Oryx are a beautiful white antelope that has a unique shoulder bump with long straight horns. They are the most famous creatures living in the deserts of the Arab Peninsula. This Arabian Oryx or known as the White Oryx is popularly referred to as the Maha in Oman. They are the national animal of the country, so much so that a famous Omani gas station was named after the Arabian Oryx.
Sultan Qaboos University, located in Al Khoud in the Capital Governorate of Muscat, was the very first university in Oman that was established in 1986, known to be one of the most prestigious universities requiring high scores to get a pass into that university. The university encompasses the whole town in itself as it provides accommodation, stores, and a public library that is open for all Omanis.

Oman is a small peninsula that is surrounded by water bodies from all three directions; north, east, and south.
