Oman Visa for Sudanese Citizens
Sudanese passport holders need an Oman visa arranged before they travel, and which visa is available depends heavily on where you live. Sudanese residents of a Gulf country with an approved profession have a dedicated residents' route. For travellers coming from Sudan, Egypt or elsewhere, a sponsored tourist visa is the usual option, currently listed at $162 for 30 days. Because the rules for Sudanese nationals have changed several times since 2024, check the current position with our visa team before you pay or book flights.
We are an independent visa assistance service. The Royal Oman Police alone issues Omani visas and decides every application.
Is the Oman Visa for Sudanese Open?
In July 2024, Sudan's embassy in Muscat announced that the Omani authorities had temporarily frozen tourist visa issuance for Sudanese nationals after some visitors broke residence rules. Later that month, visas for Sudanese residents of Gulf countries were reinstated, while sponsored visas for people travelling from Sudan remained under review. Reports since then have tied a full resumption to resolving outstanding violations, and in 2025 extensions of visit visas were reported as closed for Sudanese nationals.
So is the Oman visa for Sudanese open today? For Gulf residents with an eligible profession, the residents' route was restored in July 2024, within weeks of the freeze. For sponsored tourist and family visits, the position has been less settled, and Oman's decisions on these categories can change without much notice. Tell us your nationality, where you live and the purpose of your trip, and our team will confirm whether a route is currently open for you before you submit anything.
Oman Visa Regulations for Sudanese
Current Oman visa regulations for Sudanese travellers do not allow visa-free stays, and holidaymakers coming from Sudan cannot buy a visa at the airport. Sudan is not among the nationalities that can file a tourist e-visa on their own, so a tourist visa goes through an Oman-based sponsor. Oman's short land transit visa is limited to nationals of neighbouring states, so it does not cover Sudanese passports either.
Oman Visa for Sudanese Citizens Travelling from Sudan
An Oman visa for Sudanese citizens travelling from Sudan, or from Egypt, where many Sudanese families now live, is handled as a sponsored tourist visa. The sponsor may be a licensed hotel, a tour company or a relative resident in Oman. Where this route is open, the visa covers one trip into Oman, lasting no longer than 30 days.
Oman Visa Price for Sudanese
On our service, the Oman visa price for Sudanese applicants is $162 for a 30-day tourist visa, covering the government visa charge and our handling. The amount at checkout is final. Fees are not refunded after submission, even when a visa is refused, which is why a quick eligibility check matters before paying. Our refund policy sets out the position if you cancel before submission.
Oman Visa for Sudanese GCC Residents
The clearest route belongs to Sudanese nationals living in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait or Bahrain. According to the Royal Oman Police visa for GCC residents, an Oman visa for Sudanese GCC residents is available to people whose profession is on the approved list, who hold active residence and who travel to Oman directly from a Gulf state. It allows 28 days from entry, covers one trip and can be extended once, for a week. Accompanying family members can be included.
The approved list mainly covers professional and managerial jobs, such as engineers, doctors, accountants, teachers and company managers. House drivers, domestic workers and general labourers are normally excluded. Your residence permit should also have at least three months of validity remaining when you travel.
Oman Visa for Sudanese UAE Residents
An Oman visa for Sudanese UAE residents follows the same rules. If you drive in through Hatta or Al Ain, check that your UAE residence and passport both have enough validity left and that your car insurance covers Oman.
Oman Visa for Sudanese Residents in Saudi Arabia
The Oman visa for Sudanese residents in Saudi Arabia turns on the profession printed on the iqama. A Sudanese resident whose job falls outside the list can instead request the sponsored tourist visa, if that route is open, listing Saudi Arabia as the departure country. Our Gulf residents' visa guide explains the process.
How Fast Is the Oman Visa for Sudanese in the GCC?
How fast the Oman visa for Sudanese in the GCC arrives depends on the route. The residents' visa can be issued at Omani entry points, which makes it one of the quicker options for those who qualify, although applying online in advance avoids surprises at the border. When all documents are in, our team's handling normally takes one to two days, although the Royal Oman Police may need extra time if it has questions.
Oman Visa Requirements for Sudanese Citizens
The Oman visa requirements for Sudanese citizens applying for a tourist visa typically include:
- A passport that will remain valid for at least six months after your arrival, with a legible scan of the data page.
- A recent colour photograph on a white background; our photo requirements explain size and format.
- A return or onward flight reservation.
- Your accommodation: a hotel booking, or the Omani residence card of the relative or friend hosting you.
- For Gulf residents, a copy of the residence permit showing your profession.
Some applications need more, such as a bank statement or a sponsor's letter, and we tell you before anything is submitted. Keep the spelling of your name identical across passport, application and tickets.
Sudanese Passports Issued Since 2023
Since the war began in April 2023, many Sudanese have renewed their passports in Port Sudan, in other states or at embassies abroad. For the application, what counts is that the passport is genuine, undamaged and valid for six months beyond your arrival. If your passport's validity was extended by an embassy stamp rather than reissued, tell us before you apply, because airlines and border officers do not always accept extensions. A renewed passport has a new number, so apply only after you have it in hand.
Sudanese Entry to Oman: What Officers Check
Sudanese entry to Oman is assessed at the border as well as online. Carry the printed visa, your return ticket, accommodation details and, for Gulf residents, your residence card. Officers may ask about the purpose and length of your stay, and your answers should match your application.
Oman Tourist Visa for Sudanese: Stay Rules
An Oman tourist visa for Sudanese travellers gives one entry and up to 30 days. Travel within Oman, from Muscat to Salalah or Nizwa, has no effect, but leaving the country ends the visa. The visa must be used within the 30-day validity on our card, so submit it when your dates are fixed. Leaving on time matters here, because overstays by some visitors were behind the 2024 restrictions. Every extra day attracts a fine, and an overstay on your record can make later applications harder.
Oman Visa Extension for Sudanese Visitors
An Oman visa extension for Sudanese visitors has been restricted at times, so do not build your plans around one. Book a trip that fits within your permitted stay, and if circumstances change, contact us early so we can check what, if anything, is possible.
Oman Transit Visa for Sudanese
An Oman transit visa for Sudanese travellers is rarely needed for a short airside connection at Muscat. If you stay in the transit area and keep both flights on one booking, the check that matters is the visa for your final destination, which airlines verify at check-in. Leaving the airport requires a visa like any other entry. In the past, many Sudanese used Muscat to complete Saudi visa formalities, and that practice was affected by the 2024 changes, so check the current position before planning a stop for that purpose. Our guide to transit through Oman explains airside connections.
Sudan to Oman: Flights and Health Rules
Travel from Sudan to Oman usually starts in Port Sudan, since commercial flights from Khartoum have been heavily disrupted by the war. Oman is two hours ahead of Sudan.
Port Sudan to Muscat Flight
SalamAir launched its Port Sudan to Muscat flight in January 2026 with three services a week; check the current timetable before booking. Other routings connect through Jeddah or Cairo. Keep a connecting journey on one ticket where possible, since re-checking bags at a hub can mean passing that country's immigration.
Yellow Fever Certificate from Sudan
Sudan is classed as a yellow fever risk country, so Oman requires a vaccination certificate from anyone aged nine months or more who arrives from there. A connection of more than 12 hours in another risk country, such as Ethiopia, triggers the same requirement. Carry the original in your hand luggage. The certificate never expires under WHO rules, though a first dose only takes effect ten days after it is given.
Sudanese Living in Egypt, Malaysia and Elsewhere
Large Sudanese communities now live in Egypt, and others live, study or work in Malaysia, Türkiye or Europe. If you live outside Sudan, apply with your actual country of departure and include your residence permit or student visa for that country since it shows where you will return afterwards. Cairo has direct flights to Muscat, which is usually simpler than routing through Port Sudan. If you also hold another nationality, Oman assesses the passport you travel on, and British, American and most EU passports are allowed 14 days without a visa.
Oman Visit Visa for Sudanese Families
An Oman visit visa for Sudanese families is issued per person, so every traveller, including babies, needs their own passport and visa. A child flying with one parent should carry signed consent from the absent parent, plus a copy of that parent's passport.
Oman Family Visit Visa for Sudanese Relatives of Residents
Many Sudanese families already live in Oman, and an Oman family visit visa for Sudanese relatives is often sponsored by the resident directly. Their residence status and proof of the relationship, such as marriage or birth certificates, both carry weight. Sponsored family visits have been affected by the same changes as tourist visas, so ask our visa team which route currently applies before you apply.
Oman Work Visa for Sudanese
An Oman work visa for Sudanese nationals has to be secured by an Omani employer before departure. Neither a tourist nor a residents' visit visa allows paid work, and the Royal Oman Police stopped visit and tourist visas being converted into work visas in 2023. Our guide to Omani employment visas covers the employer's role. Former Oman residents should make sure their previous residence was properly closed, since an uncancelled residence visa can block a new application.
Sudan Embassy in Muscat
Sudan's embassy in Muscat has issued several statements on visa matters since 2024, and it remains the right contact for passport and consular help while you are in Oman. Its statements have repeatedly stressed that decisions on issuing or stopping visas rest with the Omani authorities. In October 2024, for example, the embassy denied reports that visas had fully resumed. Rely on its official announcements rather than forwarded messages, since claims of a reopening have circulated more than once.
