Oman also has its own Oman visa policy that needs to be followed by all of the people who wish to apply for one. Q. Is it necessary that a person who enters Oman needs to carry an Oman visa?

A. While not only Oman, there are other countries as well that considers the visa as an important document that will allow entry into that particular country. Hence, if you are planning for a trip to Oman you better take note of whether you need a visa or not. It is not that all countries will necessarily have to take a visa to visit Oman.

Q. Then which are those countries that need not take a visa to visit Oman?

A. There are in total of 5 countries that need not take a visa to visit Oman. That is they can visit Oman without any visa limitations being applied.

The following are the five countries:

The above-stated counties are all a part of the gulf council cooperation and this makes them eligible for visiting Oman without a visa.

Q. Which are the countries that will be needed to take a visa before they enter Oman?

A. There is in total of 71 countries that need to make sure that they take a visa before they go to Oman be it either for business purposes or for tourism purposes. The visa that the countries will hold will be a single entry visa which will be valid for a period of 30 days. This visa is a tourism visa. While the countries can also apply for various other types of visas depending on eligibility. The lists of countries that need to take a visa are as follows:

It was on the 21st of March 2018 that the people who wished to visit Oman could take a visa through an online method. The people could also take this visa at the airport before the passport control section. This had encouraged tourism in Oman. 

Q. Wasn’t there a visa on arrival facility available in Oman?

A. Oman used to have a visa on arrival facility that allowed the foreigners who visited Oman for a vacation to take a visa at the airport counter. However, this facility was stopped in February 2019. This led to Oman authorities asking people who wished to visit Oman to have an Oman e visa applied before they travel to Oman. There are still counters at Muscat International Airport that allows some of the people who did not apply for Oman e visa to acquire a visa on arrival. This, however, is done only as an exception for some cases. 

Q. What is a conditional e visa?

A. Oman gives out conditional e visa which allows the spouses and children of 21 nationals to get an e visa if they have a Schengen visa, a valid visa from Australia, Canada, Japan, the UK or the US or if they have a residence permit from any of the above-stated countries. The e-visa available is for 10 days stay single entry visa or a 30 days stay multiple entry visa. The validity for the visa is 10 days and 1 year respectively.

Common visa facility:

The foreign residents living in both Dubai and Qatar can enjoy this facility. This common visa facility states that the holders of either a Dubai visa or Qatar visa can enter Oman without an additional visa to be issued. The total stay date without a visa for a Dubai-Oman common visa will be for 21 days and for those who hold a Qatar-Oman common visa will be for a month.

Transit facilities in Oman:

Oman allows foreigners who wish to transit through Oman to stay up to 6 hours without a visa. This will be applicable only if the foreigners are holding an onward ticket and are proceeding on the same flight.
